Demulsifying Agents

Due to ever increasing environmental restrictions, as well as economic considerations, the use of demulsifying agents in various product applications has become important during the past decade. The necessity for these types of products should increase in the future.

DeTERIC ODP-LF

DeTERIC ODP-LF is an amphoteric surfactant chemically described as a octyl dipropionate. This product is practically non-foaming and has excellent stability in strong alkali and acids.

Because of its exceptional affinity to an aqueous phase, it has the ability to demulsify oils and greases with no adjustment of pH necessary. DeTERIC ODP-LF and its use in demulsification applications are protected under U.S. patents 5,110,503 and 5,597,513. DeTERIC ODP-LF is also used for demulsification in connection with microwave technology producing synergistic effects and is protected under combined multiple use patents.

In addition to demulsifying properties, DeTERIC ODP-LF performs as a hydrotrope and solubilizing agent for other surfactants in strong alkali and acid systems. It has good brine stability, is non-irritating, non-toxic and biodegradable.

DePHOS OP-75LF

DePHOS OP-75LF is a modified complex phosphate ester in the free acid form. This low foaming surfactant has excellent alkaline and acid stability along with outstanding lubrication properties in aqueous systems. DePHOS OP-75LF exhibits demulsifying properties when used in specific applications. It is primarily recommended for use in synthetic or semi-synthetic cutting fluids as a demulsifying agent for tramp oils and as a lubricant. When neutralized, it is an excellent chain lubricant for PET bottles. This product will also function as a hydrotrope in alkaline and acid formulations.

Mix water, Hampene 100 and soda ash. Once soda ash is dissolved, add the remaining ingredients in order listed. Use caution when adding 50% citric acid.

This concentrate may be diluted 5:1 or 10:1 with water.

To water, add ingredients in order listed above with good agitation. Make sure each ingredient is solubilized before addition of the next. pH of this product, before dilution, should be ~ 8.4-8.8. If necessary, adjust pH with additional sodium carbonate or Triethanolamine.

This formulation may be diluted from 1:20 to 1:40 with water to produce ready to use fluids.
