DeFOREST Enterprises Unique Low Foaming Products

The DeTERGE LF products are a unique class of modified carboxylates highly recommended for use as primary surfactants in products containing varying concentrations of caustic and alkaline electrolytes. It is suggested that you review the information on each product in order to determine which of the DeTERGE LF products meets your specific requirements. The products are approximately 50% active, are low foaming and have outstanding wetting properties. Each product is inherently biodegradable, non-phenolic and phosphate free. With the exception of DeTERGE LF-7315 and DeTERGE AN508-LF they are recommended for use in alkaline systems only.

DeTERGE LF-28

DeTERGE LF-28 is an almost colorless surfactant for use in formulated products containing 10% or less caustic and alkaline electrolytes. It is not recommended in systems containing more than 5% trisodium phosphate. At a 1% concentration in 10% caustic, DeTERGE LF-28 produces zero foam, a surface tension of 29 dynes/cm and a Draves Wetting time of 20 seconds. It is the lowest cost product of the series.

DeTERGE LF-531

DeTERGE LF-531 may be used in formulations containing as much as 30% active NaOH and can act as a hydrotrope for nonionics in alkaline systems. DeTERGE LF-531 is not as stable in sodium metasilicate as DeTERGE LF-28. In 20% caustic, this product reduces surface tension to < 28 dynes/cm and has an instant Draves Wetting time.

DeTERGE LF-7315

DeTERGE LF-7315 is recommended for use in products containing as much as 30-40% active caustic. It is not recommended for systems containing more than 5% sodium metasilicate or trisodium phosphate. Produces slightly greater foam than the other DeTERGE LF products. It reduces the surface tension of 30% caustic systems to 36 dynes/cm with a Draves Wetting time of 36 seconds. A very effective hydrotrope for nonionic surfactants in high caustic systems. DeTERGE LF-7315 is the most costly product of the group, and is also stable in acidic formulations.

DeTERGE AN508-LF

DeTERGE AN508-LF is a complex amphoteric surfactant for use in both alkaline and acid systems. Has good detergency and wetting properties and is suggested for use in low to moderate foaming alkaline and acid cleaners. Stable in up to 35% active KOH.

DeTERGE CS-45LF

DeTERGE CS-45LF is a very low foaming alkoxylated carboxylate with excellent chlorine and alkaline stability. This unique, economical product is recommended in various applications where low foam and chlorine stability are required. Exhibits detergency and wetting along with excellent hard water stability. Product is inherently biodegradable and is recommended for use in alkaline systems only.
